Savient Pharmaceuticals Inc. (SVNT) on Tuesday said it filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Barr Laboratories Inc., a subsidiary of Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. (BRL). The patents relate to Savient's product, Oxandrin, an oral anabolic agent indicated as adjunctive therapy to promote weight gain after weight loss following extensive surgery, chronic infection, or severe trauma.
